MY JOURNEY My journey started on the 9th July 1952 under the Carribbean light of pointre à Pitre, Guadeloupe ; an isolated island with beautiful waters, between sky and earth. I began with the practice of dance, music, and sport, all of which in turn triggered my vocation. This combination of colourful images and blend of sounds was my starting point, preparing the ground for my life as an artist. In 1970, I moved to saint Martin, where I took on various jobs in the twilight world of nightclubs. Back at home in Guadeloupe, I worked as a deejay in a nightclub called "Cosmos" and in 1971 encountered the world of artists. After spending six years behind a mixing desk, my confidence in my artistic choices and abilities grew, so in 1976, I made for new horizons, travelling through Western Europe, (Ibiza, Germany, Spain, Italy) before finally setting in France. It was in France where my ideas and creations reached another level. After practising/studing both theatrical and interior decoration, I attended "Beaux-Arts" (the french Art School), culminating with me securing my studio in parisian suburb of Créteil. All my vision and artistic experiences to date can be seen in my gallery, located at 40, rue de Falkirk F-94000 Créteil - France, and accessible on line, at 2 other sites : www.galerie-bardack.com.fr www.negrit.com My creations are a reflection of my multicultural roots - my definition - "an invitaion to art and imagery". |
